Looking after me when I turned up penniless in Port Hedland while on a working holiday visa circa April 1979 (date my be a bit off - it was when Simon was born). Fred convinced me I was an OK cook and set me up via the bush telegraph with a camp cook's job on a cattle station outside of Kununarra - unbeknown to Fred that started a course of events that eventually led to me emigrating to Australia.
